Azusa, Los Angeles County
Jonathan Slauson, a Los Angeles banker, laid out Azusa in 1887, and it incorporated in 1898. Foothill Boulevard carried Route 66 through the center of town, and the neon marquee of a drive-in theater from that era has been preserved beside the campus of Azusa Pacific University. Light rail trains from Los Angeles and Pasadena reached the city in 2016.
